Hockey Pitch is currently out of bounds!

The facility is still out of bounds for all clubs and players until the 1st June.

A Covid-19 guideline is being produced now to enable hockey training to resume in Ballarat. As soon as it is available it will be sent out and Hockey Ballarat will require the support of clubs to enforce the plan.

With the Aquatic centre still closed the only way players can access the ground is through designated club training sessions.

There is no access for a couple of players just having a hit.

We know that the fence is down with the lighting contractors but that will be repaired this week as soon the light poles are up.

You cannot access the pitch except for scheduled trainings.

If there are any questions please give Tony Ford or myself a call.

Thanks
Judith Yates

2020 Junior Season Cancelled

Hockey Ballarat had a ZOOM meeting to discuss, among other things, a plan for playing hockey for the remainder of the season.
It was agreed that the Junior season will now be CANCELLED. This was a very hard decision to make, especially after the great commitment from EGC coaches, assistant coaches, players and their families.
However, it was agreed that HB would run a Summer season in a more structured way. There are plans being made in the background as I type this message. For example, Women’s competition on Monday night, Mens on Tuesday night, U/16 on Wednesday and U14/11 on either Thursday or Friday night. This will remain club based teams.
As you can imagine, umpires, teams and team fees are yet to be finalised , and as the year has already had many restrictions, these are some of the final organisational points being finalised. A proposed starting date is 19 October, for a 6 week season with an emphasis of getting out to hit the ball around again. So this is really an exciting development to see the rest of the year out.
As always, I will update you again soon as plans take shape and we can hit the pitch.
In the meantime, wash your hands, keep your distance and wear your mask.

President, EGC Hockey Club

Junior Training Sessions for Summer Comp

Two training sessions have been organised for Monday 12th October and Monday 19th October.
Under 11 and Under 14 will be from 6pm-7pm.
Under 16 from 7pm-8pm
After these sessions we will then know how many players are available for the teams and a draw can then be finalised for the 6 week summer season.
So this is great news.
The Covid regulations still require us to document who enters the facility. Parents can enter the area, socially distanced, wearing masks and checked in. Remember your mouthgards, shin pads. No bags. And a friendly reminder to label your drink bottle if you need it

Hope to see you again at the pitch.
